General

01. All matches will be conducted according to the latest versions of the NOC-NSF Safe Sports Protocol and the Responsible Fishing Protocol of Sportvisserij Nederland.
Participation is only allowed if the participant has agreed to the disclaimer offered during registration, which means participation is (mostly) at their own risk.

02. All participants must possess a valid (personalized) fishing license (VISpas) issued by Sportvisserij Nederland, an official ID (passport, ID card, or driver’s license), and be at least 14 years old in the year of the match. Younger participants are excluded due to responsibility and safety concerns.

03. Anyone, regardless of nationality, may participate in the selection match(es).

04. A maximum of 50 pairs of 2 participants will fish.

05. The organizing Party is responsible for making the match regulations and guidelines available in time for the specific match.

06. The registration fee for a selection match Streetfishing is €300 per pair. Registration is only final once the payment has been made; it may be processed after the match as the payment is collected via authorization by the organizing party. This does not affect participation.

07. Free cancellations are possible up to 2 weeks before the registration deadline, in which case the registration fee will not be collected or refunded. After the registration deadline, cancellations are possible, but no refund will be issued. This also applies to participants who do not show up on the match day.

08. After checking the VISpas and ID, the pair will receive a unique measuring tape and a unique team tag. The teams tag must be visibly on every photo of registrated fish during the match. Ensure that you have the supplied scoring app ready before the match starts. (W)

09. By registering, all participants of a selection match agree to this competition regulation, the disclaimer, the privacy statement of the organizing party, and give permission for the publication of results and any photos or videos taken during the match.

10. By registering, participants agree to the use of the supplied scoring app and the processing of personal data by the organization for match administration. Participants are responsible for downloading the app

11. This match regulation is subject to the applicable rules of the Fisheries Act, the Regulations for Inland Fishing, and the Minimum Size and Closed Season Regulations (if applicable). Enforcement officers (BOAs) will be present to ensure adherence to these rules.

12. It is not allowed to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs during the match. (W)

13. Smoking is prohibited during the match time for participants. (W)

Match Officials, Jury, and Controllers

14. There will be at least 2 match officials present representing the competition, direct, and lead the match.

15. During the match, there will be one or more controllers present to check the pairs' compliance with the match regulations. The number of controllers will depend on the size of the match area and the number of participating pairs.

16. The match officials are the points of contact before, during, and after the match for all participants, controllers, and other involved parties.

17. The present match officials during the match form the jury.

18. The jury is responsible for making decisions regarding rule enforcement in case of disputes. The jury also has the authority to impose sanctions.

19. The match officials have the right to cancel the match due to bad weather or certain emergencies, suspend it, and, if possible, resume or end it later.

20. If the match is definitively stopped after 50% or more of the match duration has been fished, the match is considered valid. If the duration is less, the match will be rescheduled.

Sanctions and Appeals

21. Complaints, violations, and/or disputes during the match must first be resolved between the participant/pair and the controller. If no agreement can be reached, the jury will be informed. The jury will make the final decision.

22. In the event of a legal violation, a BOA will be involved. Violations may result in warnings, yellow cards, or red cards being issued to individual participants or pairs. A warning has no immediate consequences. A yellow card means 20cm will be deducted from the total score. A red card results in disqualification, meaning the pair has no score.

23. Any attempt to deceive or mislead (even if discovered later), as well as unsportsmanlike or offensive behavior throughout the match day, can lead to disqualification and can be sanction with a fine up to €1500,- for cheating.

24. Participants/pairs who have received a sanction/disqualification have until one hour after the match to lodge an appeal with the jury. The jury will make a unanimous decision after hearing both parties involved. A written report (jury report) will be submitted to the organizing party.

25. After a decision by the jury/jury report, an appeal can be filed one more time – in writing and within 5 working days of the decision – addressed to the competition committee of the organizing party. The competition committee’s decision will be communicated within 10 working days and is binding.

26. No registration fee refund will be made in case of disqualification, and any damage caused to the organizing party will be charged to the disqualified participant.

Match rules

27. The match lasts for 5 consecutive hours.

28. The match begins at 10:00 and ends at 15:00.

29. No third parties, except for participants and controllers, are allowed to assist with landing, unhooking, and releasing fish. Team runners are also not allowed.

30. Fish caught will be measured using a unique measuring tape provided by the organization. Each fish will be measured along the left flank, meaning the fish’s right side will lie on the measuring tape, and the left side will be photographed. The measuring tape must always be placed on a unhooking mat. If the unhooking mat is not visible in the photo under the measuring tape, the fish and its size will not count towards the result.

31. After measuring and photographing the fish, it must be released alive before the photo is uploaded into the application. Ensure that you take a good photo immediately.

32. Adding correct photos is the participant's responsibility. Incorrect photos will be rejected and will not count towards the final result.

33. Only fish that are hooked in the mouth will count for the result.(everything inside of the gill perimeter) (W)

34. The final course will be made known in advance by the organizing party via guidelines provided to the participating pairs.

35. Pairs from the same team must not be more than 10 meters apart. (W)

36. Pairs must maintain a distance of at least 15 meters from each other, except on each side of a bridge where one pair may fish even if the bridge is less than 15 meters wide. (W)

37. Fishing is allowed up to the boundaries of the course. When it involves a bridge, fishing can be done under the bridge from the side of the course. Fishing is not allowed on the other side of the bridge. (W)

38. The use of any transport (motorized or non-motorized) within the course is prohibited during the match (from the start location to the final signal at 15:00). (W)

39. Fishing on private land is prohibited, and walking on boats is not allowed. (W)

40. The course must be left clean at all times.

41. Public urination is prohibited. (W)

Material Rules

42. Only one lure per rod is allowed. This lure may have a maximum of three hooks (single, double, or treble). Only one rod may be used for fishing. Each participant may have two rods during the match (so a pair can have a maximum of four rods). Fly rods and fixed rods are prohibited.

43. Each pair must possess a landing net with a minimum pole length of 3 meters, and it must be rubber-coated.

44. Each pair must have a phone with camera function, and internet.

45. Each pair must have an unhooking mat and unhooking material. Every photo must be taken with the fish on the measuring tape, on the unhooking mat. If the unhooking mat is not visible under the measuring tape in the photo, the fish and its size will not count towards the result.

46. The use of "lip grippers" is not allowed. (W)

47. Only artificial lures can be used.

48. Feeding is not allowed.

49. Each pair must unhook and handle the caught fish in such a way that no injury occurs and the fish can be safely released back into the water. The pair must always care for the well-being of the fish.

50. Fish must always be unhooked on or above an unhooking mat.

51. The fish must be returned to the water using the landing net.

ranking and prizes

52. After the match, the match officials will prepare the final results.

53. The length of the fish caught in centimeters will be the number of points. Fish are recorded in whole centimeters, rounded up from 0.5 cm.

54. Pairs that catch no fish will receive a score of 0.

55. For the final result, there is a quota per pair:

  • The 5 largest perch per pair count towards the final result.
  • The 3 largest pike-perch per pair count towards the final result.
  • The 2 largest pike per pair count towards the final result.
  • The 3 largest other fish per pair count towards the final result.

56. One photo of each fish must be uploaded in the app. A photo of the fish measured along the left flank on the measuring board, on the unhooking mat. The caption should include the length of the fish in centimeters.

57. The “other” category includes the following fish species: Aspius, Ide , Goby, and Catfish. Only the three largest fish from this category count towards the final result. For example, not three asp and three breams. The category is considered one fish species.

58. Fish species not listed above are excluded from the points.

59. Ranking is based on the total number of centimeters. The pair with the highest total centimeters wins.

60. In case of a tie, the largest fish caught determines the ranking difference between the two pairs. If that is also tied, the second-largest fish is considered, and so on. If all fish are tied, both pairs share the same rank, and the count continues.

61. The total prize pool is €20,000, distributed as follows:
  • 1st place: €10,000
  • 2nd place: €4,000
  • 3rd place: €3,000
  • 4th place: €1,000
  • 5th place: €500
  • 6th place: €300
  • 7th place: €300
  • 8th place: €300
  • 9th place: €300
  • 10th place: €300

62. After the match, a prize ceremony will be held, the exact time of the prize ceremony will be announced by the competition leader. The best pair will receive the title of " European streetfishing masters Champion" and will receive a beautiful trophy. A nice prize table will also be prepared by the organizers for the prize ceremony.

63. Participants’ expenses during the selection match are not reimbursed by the organizing party(s) and/or angling clubs.

64. The organizing party(s) and/or angling club cannot be held liable for accidents, injuries, and/or damage. Theft, loss, or damage to property cannot be claimed.

65. The organizing party(s) and/or angling club are not responsible for any (financial) consequences due to changes or cancellations of matches or the publication (and adjustment) of the results.

66. All participants, match officials, and controllers are expected to be familiar with the general terms and regulations and adhere strictly to them. Participation means agreeing to these terms.

67. All legal regulations apply to participants in the competition, unless an exemption has been granted and communicated beforehand.

68. In cases not covered by these regulations, the jury of the relevant match will decide.

69. Participants in matches organized by or on behalf of the organizing party agree by participating to submit to the disciplinary jurisdiction of the Sports Law Institute, including its organs, such as the prosecutor, disciplinary committee, and appeals committee. This includes issues related to doping, match-fixing, and sexual harassment as per the applicable regulations, rules, and procedures of the Sports Law Institute. These are available on the website of the Sports Law Institute.

70. If a decision based on the previous article results in a decision being voided or overturned, the participant has no right to compensation or any claims for a revised result or the rescheduling of a match or event.
